oma

When we said good-bye to her after our last visit, she looked at me and said, "Strength with your work."  She was a strong women.

When she hugged my dad, her son, and kissed him good bye, she said,
"I will see you... if not here, then in heaven."

What a gift that last visit was.
What a comfort!

warmth

so here are a few things that i am reminded of when i look at this picture.

an encouraging email from my mom this week.  reminding me to look up every once in a while.

the ever-present thesis.

getting knocked over by a british woman while cross-country skiing and laughing too hard to get up.  and laughing some more.

having tea with les.

a new year

2008

it can be interesting looking back at the year you have had.
i have had a year of journeys.

i travelled to spain and newfoundland to present my thesis at conferences.
but my favourite trip was with my dad to his homeland the Netherlands.  we biked the streets and pathways of his childhood.  ate comfort food and drank beer and heard many stories.

i know that i am truly blessed.

a new year is upon me and i am expectantly waiting to know where the journey will continue.  my prayer is that i will embrace each day with joy and peace.
embracing grace.

it's a matter of living everything.
live the questions now.
perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, one day live right into the answer.
